Hopp is proudly open-source under the AGPL-3.0 license. You are welcome to self-host it. We also offer a paid, hosted version for your convenience, which helps us cover infrastructure costs and supports the project’s continued development.

Hopp currently supports MacOS and Windows. Because we are a team of two we are planning to support the latest Ubuntu LTS version in the future, and leave other Linux distributions for the community to support.

We are not 100% sure, but we have tested even with Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q and it worked well.

Yes, Hopp includes several optimizations for slower connections. You can read more around our WebRTC optimizations in our post.

Yes, Hopp takes security seriously:

  • End-to-end encryption: All communication is encrypted by LiveKit
  • Trusted services: Our cloud offering is hosted on Render and uses Supabase as our database
  • Self-hosting option: Complete control over your data

Default hosted version:

  • Basic usage analytics (PostHog)
  • Error reports to improve stability (Sentry)

Self-hosted version:

This is our goal! We are actively working on it.

The limit we have at the time being is 10 people. If you need more, please let us know!
